I have a mare that is very independent. This summer she got out and I found her the next day 11 miles from the barn. It was so scary because as each hour passed I thought my chances of finding her unhurt decreased.
She didn't mind at all leaving her stablemates and cruising cross country. When I finally found her she was 1/2 mile from the road with a herd of deer. After she came to me and I got her halter on she kept calling for them. In all my years of owning horses I have never had one this willing to just explore. She is very inquisitive about everything I do but also totally OK with what I ask of her. I think her confidence will enable her to accomplish more than a timid horse. What do you all think? |
